Day 1

Overview

Day 1

Upon your arrival to Thakek you will be welcomed by our waiting guide. We will make the short journey to the newly developed Khounkhong Leng Lake. The crystal clear waters hold a special significance for the local people who have a spiritual connection to the lake. After we check in to the bungalows here you will have some time to walk around the lake or go for a swim before having dinner at the hotel.

Day 2

Overview

Day 2

We will start the day with breakfast at our hotel before we make our way to The Rock Viewpoint, overlooking a limestone forest of paleo-karst. We’ll explore this incredible landscape with a series of ziplines, via ferratta, suspended bridges and a huge spider web bridge spanning a large chasm. Take in the sweeping views of this other worldly terrain and try to spot the endangered Lao Langur, found only in this part of the country. We’ll return back to the viewpoint for lunch before making our way down the mountain to the small village of Kong Lor. We will check in to our guest house and you will have time to relax and shower before dinner.

Day 3

Overview

Day 3

We will have an early breakfast before making our way to the entrance of Kong Lor Cave. Here we will board a small boat and take the breath taking journey along the underground river through the cave. For seven kilometers the river winds its way through the cave, the way forward lit only by our torches. In the middle of the cave there is a small walking path, light by multi coloured lights shining off impressive limestone formations. We’ll explore this wonderland before our boat continues through the cave out to the small village on the other side. Here we can learn about the bio diversity of the reigon before we return back through the cave to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. We will then transfer you to the local bus station for your bus back to Vientiane.

We hope you enjoyed your trip and look forward to seeing you again soon!
