This two day tour is perfect for culture and nature lovers. It combines visiting and learning about the Hmong Village and 3 incredible caves (including the famous Water Cave), as well as staying with a family in the village and learn how to cook Lao dish. All of it with incredible views of the surrounding mountains, beautiful rural scenery and crystal clear waters. You will have plenty of opportunities to swim in the Spring Blue Lagoon.
We will first drive around 14km north of Vang Vieng to Hmong Village (Ban Phatao).
After visiting the village, we will then trek 30 minutes through rice fields and beautiful mountains. We will then make a stop at the Elephant Adventure Village to visit the Water Cave and have lunch.
Tham Nam (Water Cave) is the highlight of the cluster of caves near Vang Vieng. The cave is about 500m long and a tributary of the Nam Song flows out of its low entrance. We will then tube inside the cave, pulling yourself through a fixed rope. The cave is really dark inside and the current can be strong at times during the wet season (May to September). Be ready for some real adventure!
After lunch, we will trek a few hundred meters to the next 2 caves, Tham Hoi and Tham Loup.
Tham Hoi is a 3km deep cave guarded by a large Buddha figure. There is also an underground lake in the cave. Tham Loup is a large and delightfully untouched cave with some impressive stalactites and small Buddha statues inside. See if you can find all of them.
After a day of trekking, you will relax and have a swim in the Spring Blue Lagoon before heading to Elephant Village where you will spend the night with a local family in their house.
In the homestay, you will have the opportunity to learn about the villagers' culture and way of living. They will teach you how to cook a Lao dish: catch your own fish and cook on the barbecue for dinner.
For Day 2, after breakfast, you will learn about the village life in a farm. You will help out on the rice field, take the buffalo to the field and understand more about their day-to-day lives.
After lunch, we will then trek back through the rice fields to the Nam Song river. You will have an introduction to the basics of kayaking. We will then set off down the river through some of the most beautiful sceneries in Vang Vieng.
