The Bio-Sand Filtration is a simple system that allows the locals to access to clean drinking water. This method is adapted from the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST) which is based in Calgary, Canada.

From the 4th to 9th November 2019, students from St. Margaret’s Secondary School in Singapore carried out Project MyLaoWater 2019 10km away from the town of Luang Prabang in the village of Ban Xieng Mouark.  The students were then divided into various groups such as building the Bio-Sand Filtration system and decorating the wall of the primary school in that village. Lastly, they enjoyed some recreation activities before leaving Luang Prabang.
