General Vang Pao's house is located in a temporary administrative zone, in Long Cheng Village. There are 21 rooms in the house, which was built in 1966 during the Second Indochina War. More recently, the house has gained significance as a memorial of the war for the younger generations.
The house is open to visitors, as long as permission has first been sought - an important condition because Long Cheng was home to a secret airbase for the US and remains a sensitive area where the Lao PDR military operates in.
