Overview
Enjoy a half-day caving adventure in Nanglong cave, which is located a short distance from the Rock Viewpoint. A walk up a streamway and then along a track in the forest leads you to the cave entrance after about 20 minutes.
Suspension bridges at the cave entrance guide you above the floor of the large entrance room to an upper-level passage. This upper passage goes through some narrow areas with cave formations such as stalactites and stalagmites, and along some ledges. Traversing this upper passage leads to an overlook into the streamway below.
You go part-way across another suspension bridge and then attach your vertical gear to a rope for abseiling down about 10 meters, landing in the streamway below.
The beginning of the streamway has a series of deep pools which are traversed by floating in an innertube, or swimming with a lifejacket on. After a while, as the water in the streamway becomes shallower, you wade through the stream and walk on the sandstone cobblestones which line the floor of the passage.
Eventually, you climb out of the streamway, into a passage that ascends away from the stream. This leads you to another entrance, where you exit the cave and return to the outside world.

The cave is both interesting and good for tourism because the cave stream is fed by water draining off of the sandstone, which is above and behind the limestone. This results in water flowing in the cave streamway throughout the year (instead of becoming dry in the dry season). The cobblestones seen on the floor of the cave streamway are comprised of sandstone, which are washed into the streamway of the limestone cave during wet season floods.

When we went through the upper passage of the cave, one guide took us through a narrow area with stalactites that we had to be careful not to touch or damage. The other guide went another way with the innertubes and met up with us further along. It may be better to not take tour groups through the narrow area with the stalactites, to protect the cave.
-
A maximum group size of 12, including 10 customers and 2 guides, is recommended for tours to this cave.
-
The route through the cave is estimated to be about 2 km long (and took our group of 5 people 1 hour 40 minutes to go through the cave itself. A survey of the cave and drafting of a cave map may be desirable to do.
