Day 1

Overview

Luang Namtha – Ban Prang – Jungle Campbase 1

The hunter trails will start with trek from Ban Prang village, 35km away from the town to the south. The first part of the hike we walk up steep hills, along rice fields and witness villagers working in the field. We will head deeper into the forest and walk mainly along the ridge-line, enjoying stunning viewpoints. We will eat a locally prepared lunch under the huge trees. Soon we will climb up the next mountain and through the dense jungle. Your guide will explain about the use of the wild plants and herbs and point out any wildlife that might be around. Next, we walk down to the stream to find the best location to set up our camp nearby the peaceful stream. You may relax or help your guide cook dinner, learning about the use of bamboo and local food. After dinner enjoy the stars and the tranquil sounds before going to sleep.

Day 2

Overview

Jungle Campbase 1 – Salt Lick Area Wildlife Tracks – Ban Nalan Neua

Get up early, have a fresh wash followed by a warm cup of coffee or wild tea while your guide is preparing breakfast. After breakfast we will continue hiking through the area of abundant forest. Hopefully you will get a chance to see some wildlife. We will continue to trek uphill and along the ridgeline enjoying the views. Then we will hike down to the village of Ban Nalan located on the Namha river bank, where the villagers will prepare a bed for us. At the village you can relax, take a swim, hang out with the local people or help to cook the food for dinner. End the night sitting around the campfire, exchanging stories with the local people.

Day 3

Overview

Ban Nalan Neua – Ban Nalan Tai – Ban Nam Koi – Luang Namtha

Villagers always wake up early, so be prepared for an early start! Take a walk around the village to see how the village people prepare for their day. Watch them do farm work, or doing their bamboo weaving work. After eating breakfast, it’s time for us to depart from the village (around 9 AM local time) and hike to visit the next village of Ban Nam Koi (Lantan tribe). It’s a tiny village located on the riverbank, and it is very famous for making bamboo paper and indigo dying. We will spend some time there before heading over the mountain. We will walk until we arrive to the Lantan village of Ban Nam Lue located nearby the main road. This is where we end the trekking trip. Our transport will be waiting to bring us back to town in the late afternoon.
