Day 1

Overview

Luang Namtha – Chaleunsouk – the Starting point – Phouvan (Akha tribe)

This 2-day Last Akha Trails starts with a short drive from town to the Ban Chaleunsouk village, where a local guide from the village will join us, and who will lead us through the forest trails. Trek begins with an ascending hike up through the first part of the forest. Enjoy the natural surroundings and keep your ears and eyes open for birds, deer, boar, monitor lizard and monkeys. Your guide will share their knowledge of the surrounding nature and of the wild plants and what they are used for. Soon we will stop for a local picnic lunch. You will have to walk a few more hours after lunch to reach the waterfalls where we will stop for a break and a refreshing bath or swim. We will continue hiking, until reaching the farms of the locals. You will have some time to observe ‘Akha’ tribe working in the farms or to take a walk through the village, interacting with the locals and the children. Your guide will prepare an authentic meal for your dinner. After dinner, you will sleep at a homestay, which means with a local family at their hut.
