Set on the river right next to the French bridge, Sengahloune Resort has comfortable, slightly cluttered bungalows with tranquil views.
It’s set away from the main concentration of guesthouses and the rooms run along the banks. Nothing but a strip of lawn separates you from the water and Sengahloune will appeal to midrange travellers in need of more refinement than your average bungalow.
The deluxe rooms are the best. Inside the bamboo thatch walls have been painted cream, bringing lightness to the dark wood floorboards and heavy wood furniture. A rattan bistro set, textiles and leafy cuttings in vases add to the elegance. Rooms are spacious and come with air-con, clothes rack, tea/coffee with hot water dispenser, hot water bathroom and windows that let in natural light.
In contrast, the standard rooms feel heavier and dimmer. The bamboo thatch walls have been stained a darker tint and they’ve tried to cram in the same amenities into a smaller space. Some may appreciate the medium sized fridge while others will wish they had more room for the luggage. Still, guests can spread out on the front balcony and there’s even more room to sprawl at the main restaurant’s enormous river terrace where the included breakfast is served and where WiFi is available.
The busy location next to the bridge doesn't seem ideal until you see the sunsets. The cosy and solidly built bungalows have wicker walls and wooden floors, and surround an inviting swimming pool. Its huge riverfront restaurant (mains 50,000K to 100,000K) fills up with tour groups at lunch, but it's more relaxing at dinner.
Situated a 2-minute walk to Old French Railway Bridge, Sengahloune Resort offers free WiFi throughout the property. Free private parking is available on site.
Li Phi Waterfall is a 10-minute drive away, while Konephapheng Waterfall is a 40-minute minibus and boat ride from the property.
Fitted with a balcony, each air-conditioned room features a fridge, electric kettle and en suite bathroom with shower facilities.
For leisure, guests can take a stroll in the garden. Laundry and shuttle services are available at a fee.
Sengahloune Resort's restaurant serves a variety of Thai and Laotian cuisine.
