Day 1

Overview

Biking, Trekking, and Khmu village homestay

You’ll set out in the morning on quality mountain bikes from our Tiger Trails shop in the city. We’ll ride north on a scenic stretch along the Mekong River from the city center, then into developing villages, and finally into the jungle and to remote mountain villages with a stop along the way for lunch. To get to the homestay site, we’ll cross the Nam Khan River by boat and hike through jungle about an hour to a Khmu village nestled into the landscape surrounded by spectacular limestone mountains.

Your homestay is in a large, but very basic and traditional Khmu village. Accommodations are simple but comfortable and give you a chance to glimpse into the daily life and culture of these remarkable hill-tribes as they have been living for many centuries in Laos.

The trail is 42 km (26 mi) of biking on mixed paved and dirt road, normally taking about 3.5 hours. Trekking is 4 km (3 mi) easy trekking normally taking a little more than one hour.

Day 2

Overview

Jungle trek to Hmong and Khmu villages

You’ll wake to breakfast prepared by your guide before embarking on today’s adventurous trek through some of the most beautiful landscape in the area. We’ll hike in the rolling foothills of a larger mountain that is the backdrop of our day trekking as we make our way on old trails connecting Hmong and Khmu villages.

Lunch will be in the jungle or a Hmong village with a small lake. The trek is about 12 km (8mi) of very scenic medium to difficult trekking normally taking 5-7 hours depending on conditions and guests. The tour ends with a river crossing by boat to our riverside Tiger Trail Adventure Camp and return to Luang Prabang by vehicle.

Note: We conditions can make this tour challenging.
