Day 1

Overview

Luang Namtha- Ban Jaluensouk - Ban Nalan Tai - Ban Nam Goy

The trek starts at Ban Jaluensouk, a Khmu village. From here, we follow a trail which leads us up to the ridge. We continue along the trail which passes through forest and upland rice fields. The guide will tell you how we are working together with the villagers to conserve and regenerate the forest. As we continue along the trail, we will meet local villagers coming and going to market before descending down to Ban Nalan Tai village which is located on the banks of the Nam Ha river. In order to distribute the benefit between villagers, each trip alternates the overnight stay between Ban Nam Goy, Ban Nalan Tai and Ban Nam Goy. If we stay at Ban Nam Goy, we shall continue walking along the river bank for a further 40 minutes.

Approximately: 30 minutes transfer & 5 to 6 hours trekking.

Day 2

Overview

Ban Nam Goy - Ban Hat Yawng - Luang Namtha

After enjoying breakfast, we head off through the forest to the banks of the Nam Ha river. Deer and monkeys live in this area so if we walk quietly and luck is on our side, we may catch a glimpse of them! We continue onwards until lunch time where we meet the villagers in the forest and enjoy a picnic together. After lunch, we cross the Nam Ha River to enter the Nam Ha National Protected Area. The trail follows a stream through dense jungle. You will see the signs of the abundant wildlife in the area and if you are lucky, we may even see some. As we continue walking, the forest opens up and heads through rice paddies before reaching the banks of the Nam Tha river. We will cross via a wooden canoe to Ban Hat Yawng.

From the village, we return to Luang Namtha by minivan.

Approximately: 5 to 6 hours trekking and 1 hour transfer
