Nam Sanam Waterfall (also known as Tad Nam Sanam or Tad Sa Nam) is one of the most beautiful hidden waterfalls in Khammouane Province, located near Na Hin (Khoun Kham) village along Route 8 and within the scenic Phou Hin Poun National Protected Area. Unlike many easily accessible waterfalls, Nam Sanam rewards visitors with an adventurous jungle trek through pristine tropical forest before revealing its spectacular twin cascades tumbling down the sandstone cliffs of Phou Pha Man Mountain.

The waterfall is famous for its dramatic double cascade, where water flows over multiple rock terraces before joining the river below. Surrounded by dense semi-evergreen forest, giant trees, butterflies, birds, and limestone mountains, the area offers a true wilderness experience. The trek itself is part of the attraction, following a forest trail that runs alongside a river and through untouched jungle landscapes.

Visitors typically begin their journey from the tourism information center near Na Hin. The hiking trail ranges from approximately 1.5 to 3 kilometers through the forest, depending on the route taken. Some sections can be steep, muddy, and slippery, especially during the rainy season, making the waterfall particularly appealing to adventure travelers and nature enthusiasts.

The best time to visit Nam Sanam Waterfall is during the rainy season from May to October, when the water volume is at its most impressive and the surrounding forest is lush green. During the dry season, the waterfall remains attractive, though water flow is significantly reduced.

The waterfall is often included in eco-tourism programs and trekking excursions around Na Hin and the Thakhek Loop. Many visitors combine the hike with nearby attractions such as The Rock Viewpoint at Phou Pha Marn, Konglor Cave, and Kong Leng Lake for a complete adventure experience in central Laos.

Today, Nam Sanam Waterfall remains one of Khammouane's lesser-known treasures, offering visitors a combination of hiking, nature exploration, photography, and spectacular scenery far from the crowds.
