Another twist thickens Paksong/Laos plot. Does Laos have Durian? Is it good? As good as the best and famous Malaysian Mao Shan Wang? YES and cheaper too!
Unknown even to Laotians. Paksong produces some of the best durians in the region known only for its coffee. Durian is the latest experiment by locals before the Japanese brought in strawberry. Now Paksong Durians are one of the must-try experiences for anyone going there.
The price is relatively cheap, around 3-5 USD/Durian with many local farmers hanging the sweet smelling/"bad smelling" fruit on the roadside by street stalls. Roughly 10-20 stalls selling them in the peak season between April to September. Durian lovers rejoice!
